Hello, Philippa Rice here. I hope you have a nice time looking through my website. I've been assembling comics and illustrations for the past four years. Before that I studied animation at University.
Currently I live in Nottingham and work from my beautiful home studio (pictured below). At the moment, about half my time is spent on illustration jobs and the other half comics.
I work in a bunch of different styles and mediums. People keep asking me which is my favourite and I can't choose. It's nice to switch between different materials and techniques so I never get bored.
You can contact me via the contact form or if you'd like my email address. Here it is: philippa[at]philippajrice.com
I read St Colin to my four-and-a-half-year-old at bedtime earlier this week, and it’s had two re-reruns since, because she loves it.
In her flat, fallible characters, we can recognise others we know, and perhaps also ourselves.
Beyond merely creating the successful webcomic MY CARDBOARD LIFE, Philippa is a multitalented craftswoman: her blog is littered with her hand made creations and oftentimes she constructs 3D counterparts for her comics that are equally hilarious as they are gut-wrenchingly cute. Using yarn and sometimes even products from everyday life, Philippia experiments beyond the bounds of paper limitation, using different materials as means to storytelling.
Timelapse video of some collage in action. No scalpel wounds this time!
